How we rank pet groomers in Puchong
How we rank pet groomers in Puchong
Puchong Pet Groomer lists 95 grooming businesses across Puchong. Every business you see here has a score from 0 to 100. This page explains exactly how that score is built, why each piece of data matters, and where the method falls short.
The five signals we measure
Our composite score draws from five signals pulled from Google business data. Each signal captures something distinct about a groomer's real-world quality and reliability.
Star rating (30%)
Google's aggregate star rating is the single heaviest input. It reflects what paying customers thought after their pet was actually on the table. A groomer with a 4.8 across genuine visits scores considerably better here than one sitting at 3.9. We use the aggregate figure, not a hand-picked sample.
Sentiment (30%)
A star rating alone can hide patterns. A business might average 4.2 stars while recent reviewers consistently mention a dog coming home with a nick, or long waits without updates. We synthesise themes from recent review text: what customers praised and what they complained about. Praise around gentle handling, accurate breed cuts, or clear communication pushes this signal up. Repeated complaints pull it down. We do not republish raw review text. For the original reviews, we link out to Google directly.
Review volume (20%)
A single five-star review tells you almost nothing. Volume is scored on a log scale, which means the jump from 5 reviews to 50 matters a lot more than the jump from 500 to 550. This reflects the statistical reality: a 4.7 rating built on 200 visits is far more reliable than the same rating from 4 visits.
Recency (15%)
A groomer's quality can change. Staff turn over, new owners take charge, standards slip or improve. Reviews from the past year carry more weight than older ones. A business with strong recent activity scores better here than one whose last review was two years ago, regardless of how good that old review was.
Profile completeness (5%)
This is a small but practical signal. A business that lists its phone number, address, opening hours, and website gives you what you need to actually book an appointment. Missing information is a minor friction that reflects on how the business presents itself publicly.
Low-confidence scores
When a business has few reviews, or when those reviews are old, the score we produce is less reliable. We label these businesses clearly as low confidence so you know to treat the number with more scepticism. A groomer new to Puchong might be excellent but simply not have the review history to show it yet. Check the label before deciding.
How rankings and paid placement work
Every position in our ranked lists, including the best dog grooming in Puchong list, is determined solely by the composite score described above. No business can pay to improve its score or move up the rankings. When paid or sponsored placements exist on the site, they are always labelled explicitly as such and appear separately from the scored rankings. The score itself is never touched by commercial arrangements.
Where our data comes from and its limits
Our signals come from publicly available Google business data. We do not conduct our own inspections or call businesses to verify claims. That means we cannot catch everything: a groomer might have great reviews but use products that don't suit sensitive animals, for instance. Our score is a useful starting point, not a substitute for calling ahead, asking about your specific pet's needs, or visiting in person. Use the Puchong Pet Groomer home page to browse, filter, and compare, then make your own call.
FAQ
- Can a business pay to get a higher score?
- No. The composite score is calculated from Google data signals only: star rating, sentiment, review volume, recency, and profile completeness. Money does not influence it. Any paid placements on the site are labelled clearly and kept separate from the scored rankings.
- Why does a business with lots of old reviews score lower than one with fewer recent ones?
- Recency accounts for 15% of the score because groomer quality changes over time. A business with strong reviews from the last 12 months is a more reliable guide to what you will experience today than one whose reputation was built three or four years ago.
- What does the low-confidence label mean?
- It means the business does not yet have enough reviews, or recent enough reviews, for us to trust the score as a solid signal. The number is still shown, but you should weigh it carefully and look for other information, such as calling the groomer directly, before booking.
- Where can I read the original customer reviews?
- We summarise review themes but do not republish individual reviews. Each business listing links out to its Google profile, where you can read the full reviews in their original form.
